We are family owned, family focused accountancy professionals, specialists in owner managed, family focused businesses.  

The company was established in Newark on Trent in 2002. Current owners Michelle and Simon Allen acquired the company in June 2017 and re-branded in November 2019 when Access Accounts Services was born.

Michelle had previously completed her accountancy training and built a successful career with a leading regional practice. After starting a family in 2015 life inevitably changed and the couple took time to re-evaluate their priorities. Family had become central to their everyday lives and to their long term aspirations, this led to the decision to step away from the corporate world and to build a family focused business. Both having parents who ran family businesses and now themselves managing the challenges of family life whilst running a business.  Michelle and Simon share a passion for helping owner managed family businesses flourish and have first hand experience and understanding of the difficulties as well as opportunities this can bring.

Meet the team

Michelle Allen

Managing Director

Michelle Allen is a Chartered Accountant and Tax Advisor with a specialty in working with owner managed businesses. Michelle became Managing Director at Access Accounts Services Ltd (previously Yours 4 A Day Ltd)from June 2017.  She also acts as Financial Director for Radio Newark Ltd (appointed 2014), is treasurer and committee member for Newark Business Club and has previously volunteered as a trustee and Financial Director for a local charity EDAN Lincs (2007 – 2022).

Michelle has a wealth of accountancy and taxation experience having spent over 15 years working for a leading local practice across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire where she progressed to the position of Associate Director.  Having grown up within a family business she has a passion for helping small to medium sized family businesses fulfil their potential. This led her to take the decision to run her own accountancy practice focused on helping these businesses.

Having spent two years as Chairman and being associated with Newark Business Club for over 15 years, Michelle has a keen interest in local affairs and the promotion of the local business community. Michelle is proactive in keeping abreast of industry issues and professionally holds numerous qualifications including BA (Hons) Business Studies specialising in Finance, FCA (Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants), CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser).

Outside of work, Michelle loves to spend time with her young son and enjoys an active outdoors lifestyle and recreationally participates in cycling and snowboarding as well regular gym sessions.

Simon Allen

Director

Simon is the only non-technical member of our team. With a background in Sales, Marketing and Business Management working for leading manufacturers within the construction industry Simon brings a unique skill set and different perspective to the practice.

With overall responsibility for the operational side of the business Simon ensures things run smoothly, managing our supplier relationships, IT systems, invoicing, credit control and marketing activity. Simon also takes an active role in business development, new client engagement and client relationship management and loves getting to better understand our clients and their businesses.

Outside of work Simon enjoys cycling, snowboarding, and night time walks listening to podcasts and audiobooks. His favourite moments are those spent with his young son.

Jodie Goldstraw

Team Leader

Jodie is our Office Team Leader, fully AAT qualified, Jodie has 20 years experience as a book keeper and predominately looks after our quarterly VAT return clients along with our annual self-assessment clients. In her spare time she enjoys playing rugby, walking & cycling.

Rachel Hunt

Payroll Specialist

Rachel is our payroll expert with over 15 years experience. She can offer you a full payroll service including RTI submissions , auto enrolment and year end reporting. Rachel also has two children and enjoys going to the gym and the cinema in her free time.

Vicky Roe

Chartered Accountant

Vicky is a highly experienced Chartered Accountant with over 15 years experience. She is responsible for producing annual accounts for many of our limited company clients and is an excellent client manager.
In her spare time she enjoys playing rugby for the Newark women’s team and being chauffeur to her kids.
